For Gary
The good man this whole thing is named after.
My earliest memory of Gary is sitting on his lap as he rocked me to sleep, singing "You Are My Sunshine." Years later, he sang that same song to me again. It was my final memory of him.
Gary was rough around the edges in the best way. His hands were cracked, strong, and usually stained with oil from a lifetime of fixing, building, and working hard. But no amount of grease or grit could hide the goodness in him. Whether he was building a pool in the backyard, fixing our cars, working on a motorcycle with me, or cooking for the people he loved, he did everything with a love deeper than the ocean.
Like many people from his generation, Gary did not always take the best care of himself. Diabetes was the beginning of a long road of health problems, but even through all of it, he encouraged me to exercise, make better choices, love the people around me, and keep moving forward.
Eventually, Gary rode his shiny Harley Sportster to the great drag race track in the sky. Before he crossed that last finish line, he left me with something bigger than memories. He left me with a reason to build something good.
Good Gary Foods was created to honor his memory through food: food made with care, built around better choices, and inspired by the kind of love that keeps a family rolling.
Good Gary Foods: Food that keeps you rollin'.
